Collaborations — 2014 to ongoing

Six Clusters, One Editorial Standard

The kitchen's partnerships — maison-led, institutional, and producer-led — held in six clusters and at the editorial register each partner asks for. Never merged into a single luxury voice.

The Collaborations cornerstone holds the kitchen's relationships with the maisons, institutions, and producers that have carried the work across more than a decade. About holds the chef. Restaurant Legacy holds the rooms. Serumpun Sarawak holds the movement. Media Centre holds the record. Collaborations holds the relationships — the partnerships that have earned the credentials, anchored the rooms, supported the movement, and travelled forward into the post-restaurant register. The discipline of the cornerstone is register fidelity. Each maison, each institution, each partner carries its own editorial standard.

Cluster 6 — pending

Producers, Terroir

The cluster where the kitchen meets the partners closest to the land. Sub-pages held pending direct sign-off — the discipline of refusing speculation.

How the Cornerstone Is Organised

The six clusters divide into two structural registers, against the question what does the partnership ask the kitchen to do?

The food-led clusters — Clusters 1 and 2. Cluster 1 (Spirits, Champagne, Cognac) and Cluster 2 (Kitchen, Atelier, Tableware) are the partnerships where the kitchen’s discipline is most directly engaged with the cuisine itself. The pairings, the architecture of the kitchen, the tableware that carries the plate — these are the partnerships that read at table register.

The not-primarily-about-the-plate clusters — Clusters 3, 4, 5, and 6. Cluster 3 (Lifestyle, Mobility), Cluster 4 (Cultural Diplomacy), Cluster 5 (Institutional), and Cluster 6 (Producers, Terroir) are the partnerships that operate at registers beyond the plate. Lifestyle curation; sovereign-cultural patronage; academic and institutional partnership; producer-and-terroir relationships at the source. Each cluster carries its own register, and none defaults to food-led framing without losing what makes the cluster editorially distinctive.

The two structural registers are the cornerstone’s organising taxonomy. Within each, the individual maison or institution carries its own register — Krug at Krug standard, Hennessy at Hennessy standard, the Sarawak State Government at sovereign-cultural standard.

What the Cornerstone Argues

The Collaborations cornerstone, read as one body of relationships, argues three things that no single sub-page can argue alone.

That partnerships earn the credentials. The Krug Ambassade induction (2014) was earned through years of Krug-led work at Brasserie Enfin and Enfin (Menara Hap Seng). The Coteaux de Champagne honour (2019) was earned through the Krug Ambassade work. The Mérite Agricole honour (2024) was earned through the wider maison and conservation work. The Recognition chapter at About surfaces the credentials; the Collaborations cornerstone is where the partnerships that earned them are held at register.

That partnerships are obligations, not endorsements. Each partnership carries an obligation to honour the partner’s editorial standing in good faith. Krug’s two-and-a-half centuries of Champagne heritage; Hennessy’s two-and-a-half centuries of Cognac heritage; Mortlach’s Beast of Dufftown register; The Macallan’s Six Pillars; Gaggenau’s German-engineering register; thePlan’s atelier register; Mepra’s Italian-tableware heritage; BMW’s century-plus engineering inheritance; Sarawak State Government’s sovereign-cultural register; UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy — Kuching’s international-cultural register; Taylor’s University’s academic register. The cornerstone is the architecture that records the obligations, not just the relationships.

That partnerships travel forward. The 2025 pivot from restaurant operations to cultural-diplomacy work did not close the partnerships. It re-directed them. Each continues at its own register into the post-restaurant chapter. The cornerstone is the architecture that holds the wider relationship arc as continuous rather than as restaurant-era artefact.

*Six clusters; one editorial standard. Each maison at its own register, never merged into a single luxury voice. Each institution at its own institutional standing, never reduced to courtesy. Each partner the kitchen has been honoured by — and each partner the kitchen has tried to honour in turn.*
